One of 367 plates originating from 1st edition of Besler’s seminal Hortus Eystettensis (1613 ed.), a comprehensive botanical survey of the royal flower gardens at Eichstätt, Germany (a.k.a. the Four Seasons), and the first folio of its kind for the artistry, variety, and detail of its subjects. Text, Latin, on verso. Partially hand-coloured. Minor spotting, soil in upper left of image; else near fine.
